Fridays...Everybody loves Fridays. They herald the coming weekend with promises of freedom for a couple of days to relax, clean out your belly-button, or whatever it is you do for entertainment.
Me? I got 1000 word puzzle for my birthday, so I was looking forward to unwinding by working on it with my sister. So, we popped in Zootopia for the kids and my sister, niece, and I set down to work and enjoy ourselves. I was stoked.
"Let's do this thing."
Everything seemed to progress normally. The kids would randomly come in for no reason, and then leave to watch the movie again.
"Are you breathing? Just checking."
Then, as I was circling the table to get to a different spot on the puzzle, I glanced off just in time to see Ethan run full-tilt at the ottoman. Physics are kind of an unknown field to my son, and (even though warned many times), he proceeded to learn about force, inertia, and how ottomans slide on hard floors. His face collided with a sickening sound, and an ungodly, demon-summoning wail emerged from his inner-most being.
My niece said "Uh-oh," as Ethan stumbled towards me, holding what I already knew to be a tooth in his hand as blood merrily dripped everywhere. Unfortunately, upon further examination, my son managed to knock out about half of his permanent front tooth. ARG. I was hoping for a baby tooth, but no such luck.
I hurriedly called my dentist, only to remember he was having a family emergency and was unavailable. My sister's dentist was out-of-town on a fishing trip. Finally found a dentist in the phone book that took emergency cases. Called, arranged everything, etc. Then they called back with this fun news: "I can't get a hold of anyone at our Edmond branch. You'll have to go to Del City."
After getting lost, we managed to find it. The nurse could have told us it was right next to a big a## water tower, but that little nugget of helpfulness was lost upon her. Ethan did not enjoy his experience. He remembered that needles are unpleasant, and therefore he wanted no part of it.
Well, $800+ false tooth and couple of stitches later, we are able to make our way back home around 11:00. I cannot tell you how much I just adored that experience.
